Preparing for your appointment
Patients are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their appointment.
You do not need to fast beforehand.
What to bring
Documents received from Immigration Canada
Government-issued photo ID (e.g. passport, drivers licence, national ID card) *please note: Health cards are not an acceptable form of ID
Refugee documents, if applicable
Prescription medications, if any
Eye glasses or contacts, if you wear them
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, if you have been vaccinated.
X-rays & laboratory testing
At your appointment, you will receive instructions regarding the required X-rays and laboratory tests.
X-Rays
A chest X-ray is required for applicants 11 years of age and older.
Laboratory tests
1. Urine test - required for all applicants ages 5 and older
2. Blood test - HIV / syphilis / kidney function (creatinine) required for applicants 15 years of age and older
3. Additional laboratory tests may be required depending on medical history
After Your Examination
After all examinations and tests have been completed, your report will be submitted within 5-10 business days via eMedical, the IRCC’s authorized website for submissions.
Usually no follow up appointment is required. If there is any need to discuss your results, you will be contacted (either by our office or by IRCC) to book a follow up appointment. There may be an additional fee for follow up appointments.
You may request a copy of your medical report at the time of your visit. There will be a small administrative fee for this service.
